If you are using public transport you need to take a train to Sonobe from Kyoto (approx.. 46 minutes). With advance reservation, we will pick you up at Sonobe Station (approx. 35 minutes drive from Sonobe to Miyama). We will meet you at the ticket gate in Sonobe station. Please let us know your approximate arrival time as soon as you can (Please note advance reservation is required for pick-up service.).We appreciate for your cooperation and understanding that there is a possibility of sharing a car with other guests.
It takes a little extra effort to get here, but the rewards are worth it. The beautiful countryside and traditional way of life offer a unique experience of the real Japan.

Meishin Expressway - Exit at Sonobe IC of Kyoto Rift Road, and take Route 19 - Route 368, and you will see a thatched building with a small window on the left side of the road. (Approximately 40 minutes from the IC) *Three parking spaces are available in front of the building. Each accommodation also has its own parking lot.
Many of our customers select to use rental cars from cities when they come to Miyama.  The roads here in Miyama are easy to drive with few cars. With your rental car, you can move around within Miyama region during your stay without any stress.

We are located about 50 kilometres from Kyoto station.By car it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. From Kyoto station there are two routes.

The first follows route 9 and then the highway (Kyoto Jyukando towards Fukuchiyama), get off the highway at Sonobe and follow signs for Hiyoshi (route 19). Follow route 19 until you get to Miyama, then turn left on route 368 go through the tunnel and continue for about 3 minutes,  and you will see a thatched building with a small window on the left side of the road. (Approximately 40 minutes from the IC) *Three parking spaces are available in front of the building. Each accommodation also has its own parking lot.

The second route follows Route 162 which is a little harder to find your way and not recommended in bad weather or if you are not a confident driver. This route follows route 162 towards Keihoku, then just stay on 162 all the way to Miyama. Finding 162 from Kyoto city is the tricky part, you will need a map or a navigation system.
