Miyama FUTON＆Breakfast Honkan
150 years old thatched roof house
Miyama FUTON&Breakfast Main is a traditional thatched cottage. The magnificent beams support the 150 years old house which is also the cultural property. According to an old book, a cutlery shop was operated and at one time it was owned by a lumber merchant. The path in front of the house is an ancient mackerel road that leads from Obama on Sea of Japan coast to Kyoto, giving atmosphere of the old days. The cottage has a large sunken hearth where large groups can enjoy cooking over a pot, and bedrooms on both the first and second floors, making it comfortable for large families. Stay as you are living in the traditional thatched roof house and enjoy Japanese culture. A full served breakfast made from local produce is included in the price.
Lofted attic with a view of thatched roof
You can spend your time in the attic, where you can view the back side of the thatched roof. Actually, it’s a rare experience even in thatched roof architecture. Please spend your time relaxing in the attic. An audio system has also been installed.
Kura (storehouse) with Suikinkutsu (water harp cave)
Outside of the cottage, there is a Kura, the earthen storehouse designed to be fireproof and insulated with mud. Within Kura, you can enjoy water drop music of Suikinkutsu (water harp cave), which is usually placed in the garden but here it's located inside of the Kura.
